Chinese Program Hosts Local High School

April 20th 2017 will always be remembered as an exciting day for Chinese classes at the University of Tennessee, and the L&N STEM Academy in Knoxville. Typical class procedures were disregarded and only fun and interactive learning took their place. In order to promote an excitement for learning both during high school and beyond, Ms. Dan Wang invited students from the STEM Academy to visit two intermediate Chinese classes at UT to learn more about the programs they could one day be a part of. In the process, the visitors also learned new Chinese words. High school students began their experience by dividing into teams led by UT students. UT students became the “laoshi” (teachers) and taught the song, “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” in Chinese, of course. Once the high school students learned the songs, they had to compete against their peers for prizes. Students also practiced character recognition and played an intense game of musical chairs to Chinese music. At the end of this exciting day, L&N
